Tara's Story
An avid reader, Tara Knox Cerven dreamed of writing children’s books since she was a little girl. Years later, when the corporate chapter of her life ended, Tara knew it was time to turn that dream into reality. Writing children's fiction and non-fiction stories that inspire and bring joy, she often takes readers on adventures to her favorite corners of the world. Tara lives in New York’s scenic Hudson Valley, with one very supportive husband, four mostly supportive children, and two totally unsupportive felines. She is represented by Adria Goetz at KT Literary, who can be reached at adriagoetz@ktliterary.com.

An avid reader, Tara Knox Cerven dreamed of writing children’s books since she was a little girl. As a child, she wrote stories about discarded Christmas trees, an adventurous chipmunk, and cousin shenanigans, confident they would become best sellers. And, for some reason, her classmates disliked it when she begged teachers for extra book report assignments.

After earning a marketing degree, Tara spent 29 years in the corporate world. On the day that chapter of her life ended, a coworker asked, "What have you always wanted to do?" She blurted out, "Write books for children!" Speaking those words gave them life. Dream the impossible and you will achieve the incredible.

Today, Tara is incredibly excited to be represented by Adria Goetz, Senior Agent at KT Literary. Writing children's fiction and non-fiction stories that inspire and bring joy, she often takes readers on adventures to her favorite corners of the world.
When not writing, you can find her tutoring elementary students, evaluating children’s 4-H presentations, picking the brains of her local librarians, and maintaining a Little Free Library for children. She is also an active member of the SCBWI. Tara lives in New York’s scenic Hudson Valley with one very supportive husband, four mostly supportive children, and two totally unsupportive felines.
Author Biography

I attended a life-changing picture book writing workshop in Tuscany, led by my then-future agent, Adria Goetz. The classes, setting and food were fabulous. But the best part? Connecting with this amazing group of children's writers from around the world.
